Ex-smoker to puff around Italian roads

A MENTAL health worker who started running to help her give up smoking will run a 26-mile marathon in Florence to raise funds for a Cambridge charity.

Kim Masson, who works on the Cambridge Cameo Project, will be pounding the streets of Florence, Italy, on Sunday November 27, to raise money for mental health charity Cam-mind, based in Chesterton Road, Cambridge.

The 42-year-old, from Cambourne, has worked in mental health for more than 16 years and now helps young people aged 17-35 dealing with their first episode of psychosis - losing touch with reality.

Kim took up running to help her stop smoking when she was 35 - after 13 years as a smoker - and to help her get on top of stress.

Last year she ran the Venice Marathon, raising £700 for Cam-mind.

She said: "I like to do a marathon somewhere different each year to keep up my motivation."

To sponsor Kim, telephone (01223) 311320.
