Artistic windows at school

A PRIMARY school is to get its own stained glass windows.

Cambridgeshire County Council has commissioned an artist to create two windows for Monkfield Park Primary School in School Lane, Cambourne.

The round stained glass windows will go into the school's extension, which is due to open next year.

Caxton-based artist Catherine Manford designed the creations with the help of pupils at the school. They decided they wanted a design which included a monk and the idea of healthy eating.

Catherine took up the children's ideas to create a window depicting a monk gathering fruit from a tree.

The other window will show the school's logo.

Pupils are keeping an eye on the windows' progress.

They visited Catherine's Caxton workshop on Wednesdayto see how the works of art are developing.
