Attack case trial is hit by CCTV hitch

THE trial of a man accused of punching a 15-year-old girl could be delayed due to a mix-up over closed circuit television footage.

Christian Stevens, 31, of Aragon Close, Cambridge, denies assaulting the girl in the car park of the Morrisons supermarket in Cambourne on March 14.

The CCTV system which covered the car park has had to be replaced due to technical problems.

At Cambridge Crown Court, Robert Benzynie, defending, applied for the case to be adjourned while attempts were made to retrieve the images filmed on the night of the alleged attack.

But Judge Jonathan Haworth said this would cause an unnecessary delay, and the trial will be rescheduled within the next month.
