Take away to be third shop in new village

CAMBOURNE'S first takeaway is set to open by October.

Fish'n'Chick'n will be the development's first shop to open in units at Caxton House, on the corner of Broad Street and School Lane.

Estate agents and other shops built by developers Alfred McAlpine are expected to open up in the area later this year.

Fish'n'Chick'n, which already has 28 shops around the south east, including at Royston and Bar Hill, will be Cambourne's third shop - after Morrison's and Lloyd's Chemist.

Resident Roger Hume said:

"It is really exciting for Cambourne.

The nearest take-away is at Bar Hill which is quite a way away."

Resident Mike Jocelyn said:

"It will be good for the community. I believe it's a good take-away. I'm sure they'll do well."

James Lipscombe, director of Fish'n'Chick'n, said: "It's a fantastic opportunity for us to open up a new store somewhere like Cambourne and to bring something to the village."

Shops and offices being built by Bovis Homes in High Street are also due to open later this year.
