We could never replace Cambourne.net. Hopefully though, this forum will go some way to bridging that gap

| MORE than 150 skaters are expected to descend on Cambourne for the new settlement's third annual roller marathon. The event, on Sunday, September 18, will feature roller-skating experts from the Leicester Roller Speed and the London Roller Speed Clubs. Organiser Malcolm Chapman, from the Federation of In-Line Speed Skating and East Region Roller Speed Association, said more people were taking part than ever before. He said: "Watching the skaters fly through the streets of Cambourne is quite a spectacle, and it's a fantastic form of exercise for all those who take part. We hope many more local skaters will come and join in the fun." The action will start at 1pm, with a mini-skating marathon for children. At 2pm the adult race starts, with entrants competing to complete the most laps of the course over 45 minutes. The best skaters will be vying to beat the record of last year's winner, Andy Poulter, who completed 27 laps of the course, the equivalent to half a marathon. Anyone interested in competing should contact Malcolm Chapman on (01438) 721435. |
