End of road for centre

A COMMUNITY centre is due to be demolished.

The Lancaster Centre, in Cambourne, was built last year to serve as a temporary meeting place for community groups while a permanent centre, the Hub, was completed.

Its creation followed complaints the Cambourne Consortium, the umbrella organisation for the developers, was not building facilities and fulfilling its planning obligations. The consortium then donated use of the centre.

The Hub has now opened and the consortium has said The Lancaster will go - although a spokeswoman said no date had been agreed.
